"O People! Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen carefully to what I am saying and take these words to those who could not be present here today."

"O People! just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that he will indeed reckon your deeds."

These were the words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during his final sermon, delivered on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah in the year 10 AH, at Mount Arafat. In this momentous address, he laid down the foundation of our faith: how we are to live as Muslims and how we are to treat one another.

He also reminded us of the precious nature of time:

“For I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again.”

None of us knows when our time will come, when our own Day of Arafah might be our last. If you knew this was your final one, would you spend it differently? Would you give more to those in need? Would you increase your prayers and strive harder in the service of Allah?

Today, we have that opportunity. To act, to give, and to make a difference. Right here, right now.

In our own Columbus communities, the need is great. Families served by MY Project USA live on as little as $6,000 a year. That is just $500 a month to cover rent, bills, food, and clothing. Can you imagine raising your children on that?

“Regard the life of every Muslim a sacred trust.”

That trust begins at home. Due to a lack of funding, we have had to make painful decisions, including letting go of all our part-time junior soccer coaches. Our Hilltop Youth Soccer Summer League, which serves over 200 children each season, now relies heavily on donations and volunteers. This league is not just about sports. It is a safe space, a source of mentorship, and a vital tool for youth empowerment in a neighborhood facing deep poverty, violence, and neglect.

On this Day of Arafah, we invite you to join our $6K for $6K Initiative. For every household living on $6,000 a year, we aim to raise $6,000 in support. This funding provides food, hygiene items, emergency relief, and access to programs that nurture dignity, safety, and opportunity.

This is more than charity. This is community transformation rooted in Islamic values. Through the MY Project USA's Social Ventures Partnership initiative, we are creating jobs, mentoring youth, and building sustainable systems that break the cycles of poverty. But we cannot do it without your support.

If you are looking for one more good deed today, let it be this: give generously to protect and uplift hundreds of Muslim families right here in Columbus. Your donation is zakat-eligible, and it directly supports essential programs like MY Family Pantry, MY Deah's Warehouse, the Hilltop Free Clinic, various youth leadership initiatives, and the Hilltop Youth Soccer League.

With your help, we can continue saving lives, nurturing the next generation, and honoring the sacred trust of our fellow Muslims.

Give today for the sake of Allah. Give today for the sake of our community.

In solidarity with youth and families,

Team MY Project USA
