From The Executive Director's Desk:

Ramadan Ends. Needs Don't.

Our Movement Goes Beyond Ramadan.

Stay With Us!

Family,

On this blessed Friday of Ramadan, on behalf of our Board of Directors,  I want to take a moment and thank each and every one of you for your support and contribution over the years. Together we have built a village that is saving the lives of hundreds of children and empowering more. Your presence made a difference. THANK YOU!!!

I also want to share a great news with you about the Ohio Department of Education's $1.2M grants that were awarded to us yesterday. Please see the details below.

We have also received a partial funding of $50K from Welcome Fund to support new Afghan refugees in Columbus getting employed by providing them with ESL classes, transportation help and workforce development related trainings and support. With your support, we hope to help dozens of families getting on their feet with decent jobs soon.

I along with my board members are solely focused on turning this startup organization into an institute. We have vigorously applied for more grants to grow and sustain the infrastructure of the organization. The result of our hard work is evident in every aspect of the growth of organization. We know our movement is growing and it will make make bigger strides all over the country in coming years. This will be our legacy to leave behind for generations to come, inshaAllah.

Please take a moment to watch and share my presentation at our iftar dinner and short remarks by President Pro Tem Elizabeth Brown of the Columbus City Council and the Ohio Statehouse Minority Leader Allison Russo.

As always, please help us reach our Ramadan goal of $200,000 in community donation and ask others as well.

May God always protect and empower our families and bless our elderly with His bounties. Ameen

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Hilltop community leaders say there is a major lack of facilities for kids to turn to which is leading many of them to gangs, violence and crime.

However, My Project USA, the largest Muslim social services organization in Ohio, has found a way to get kids off the street, by getting them onto the field.

8th Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner

"Celebration of Our Village"

We had a blast at our 8th Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner & Fundraiser, aptly titled,  “Celebration of Our Village.” The event was sold out. Among the 225 attendees, there were many incredible elected officials, several judges and esteemed community leaders, activists and interfaith leaders. We shared with the community the impact we’ve made, our next steps, and the work that remains to be done.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all the elected officials, judges, and  community leaders who spoke at the dinner for their kind words and tireless support of MY Project USA. And thank all the other esteemed guests for their attendance.

We have shared the videos and pictures from the dinner on our social media platforms throughout the week. Please check out our YouTube channel and Facebook for the videos.

MY Project USA secured $1.2 M to cover the cost of our afterschool programming and summer programs until the summer of 2024

The Ohio Department of Education yesterday awarded $89 million in Summer Learning and Afterschool Opportunities Grants to 161 community-based partners. The Department received more than 700 applications from across the state. Awardees will use these funds to create or expand out-of-school time services that address the academic needs and overall well-being of students most in need of services as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These federally supported COVID-19 relief grants focus on providing direct services for Ohio students who experienced greater disruptions to learning and did not engage consistently in school during the pandemic. Organizations that are receiving funds include community centers, colleges and universities, faith-based organizations, arts centers, neighborhood outreach centers and youth activity centers.

By the Grace of God, tireless work of our team, and strategic advocacy, we were able to secure $1.2 M to cover the cost of our afterschool programming and summer programs until the summer of 2024. This amount along with other grants from the Columbus Foundation, United Way of Central Ohio and other partners will help us expand the program to 300 children for two academic years and three summers. We are now looking for a larger facility that can help us serve them in one location. We hope to secure a school building soon from our partners at the South Western School District.

We Are Proud Partners of SWACO & The City of Columbus

The City of Columbus and SWACO are partnering in the Hilltop on the Recycle Right program, encouraging families and residents to recycle using the city’s blue residential recycling container for biweekly collection. MY Project USA is currently recruiting volunteer and paid program ambassadors to assist in targeted educational outreach to Hilltop households on how to recycle correctly and how recycling benefits our community.
