MY Leaders Volunteer at the MY Community Café! This past Saturday afternoon, our MY Leaders gathered at the MY Community Café to volunteer their time making snack packs for clients at the Warming Center. This initiative, started by our Founder and Executive Director Zerqa Abid, aims to provide food and other essentials to guests outside of the daily meals they receive. The youth engaged in meaningful discussions about the importance of serving others and helping those experiencing homelessness. They worked together with enthusiasm and purpose, making a difference one snack pack at a time! A big thank you to everyone who has generously donated food and other essential items for our Warming Center bags. Your contributions are truly making an impact and going a long way in supporting our guests! We are still accepting food and brunch bag donations until March 31st. This Valentine’s Day, let’s spread some LOVE to our neighbors in need. Consider making a donation and showing kindness to those who could use a little extra support. Together, we can create a community of care! ❤️ |

Building Trust and Teamwork in WHS Roundup! In our latest WHS Roundup session, students took part in a fun and challenging group activity designed to build trust and highlight the importance of teamwork. The activity featured a blindfolded obstacle course, where students were paired up, with one blindfolded and the other giving directions to help navigate through a maze set up in the classroom. The goal was to work together to move through the maze as quickly as possible, while minimizing bumps and missteps! After completing the course, students reflected on the experience by writing about how and why they had to trust their partner throughout the challenge. The activity not only helped develop communication skills but also emphasized the value of trust and collaboration in problem-solving. This hands-on experience is crucial for student development, as it teaches valuable life skills such as effective teamwork, leadership, and the ability to rely on others in both academic and personal settings. It also fosters empathy and a deeper understanding of how supporting one another leads to success. Great job to all the students who participated – teamwork makes the dream work! 🌟 |

Binns' Students Enjoy a Visit from MY Reading Warriors! Binns' students had an exciting visit from MY Reading Warriors, a volunteer reading team started by MY Project USA. During this engaging session, students took turns reading aloud to one another about the fascinating history of the Aztecs. After the reading, they enjoyed a fun craft activity that connected to the themes of their lesson. This activity also provided a wonderful opportunity for students to step out of their comfort zones, as many gained confidence by volunteering to be the reader. It was inspiring to watch them face their fears and grow in their public speaking abilities! A big thank you to MY Reading Warriors for making this experience possible and helping our students build both their reading skills and self-confidence! 📚✨ |
