At MY Project USA, we don’t just change lives – we save them.

Let me share the story of SK, an incredible young man who overcame immense challenges. Growing up in a troubled environment with two siblings in jail, SK seemed destined to follow the same path. But everything changed when his best friend, Issa Jeylani, introduced him to MY Project USA through the Hilltop Tigers soccer team. Through our youth programs, SK found a support system that guided him toward a better future.

However, SK’s journey wasn’t easy. Tragically, he lost Issa to a horrific act of gun violence, a devastating blow that left him and our entire organization heartbroken. Yet, despite this profound loss, SK chose to honor Issa’s memory by pushing forward. With the help of the MYPUSA programs, he stayed focused and became the first in his family to graduate from high school. Today, SK is an assistant coach for the Hilltop Tigers soccer team, a phenomenal role model for other youth and aspires to become a medical assistant.
